A Love Letter to Fashion
Dear Fashion.
From the first time I watched the “Devil Wears Prada,” “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” “Project Runway,” and “America’s Next Top Model,” I knew it was my destiny to work in the fashion industry. As I binge-watched “Fashion Police” and worshiped Diane Von Furstenberg, my future was clear. I have always had a passion for fashion and an eye for style. Through fashion, I have been able to express myself and show off my personality. My love for the industry goes something simple.
There are endless opportunities for fashion. Trends come and go, but personal style will never change. Fashion allows people to show off their personalities through unique pieces. There is no standard on what is considered stylish because it is all subjective.
Fashion is a form of self-expression through art. There are endless creative opportunities. The fashion industry has no limits or boundaries; designers have complete creative freedom to execute their visions. Every day, I can express how I feel through my clothing choices, and I have unlimited opportunities with every outfit. I am not restricted to a certain style and can change my mind.
Most importantly, I love how women are represented in the industry. Iconic designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Coco Chanel, and Betsey Johnson made a name for themselves in the industry. The industry makes me feel empowered to make a brand for myself and hopeful for my future of working in fashion.
When I started this blog, I wanted to learn more about the fashion industry. I wanted to set myself up for my hopes of working in the industry in the future. Throughout this term, I have researched all aspects of sustainable fashion. Many brands are unethical, but my research has intensely piqued my interest. As I have learned more, I have begun implementing sustainable practices in my everyday life. With the platform and resources I am given, I have chosen to educate those around me on sustainable fashion. Social media has birthed micro trends and glorified fast fashion, but I want to help those around me be fashion-conscious.
Finally, fashion, I love you because I feel confident. I can express myself and feel empowered whenever I walk out the door. I feel inspired, creative, and spontaneous with the endless opportunities presented to me.
